Many of our satos are small (under 20lb) because Flight Angels bring them to us as pets in carriers.
Please note that we generally do not adopt outside of a 75-minute radius of the Greater Washington D.C. area.

Miss Bianca is an adorable little chi mix with the classic giant ears of a sato. This little cutie won the lottery and has arrived! She is settled into her foster home and is loving life with kitties and other pups. This girl LOVES to be a lap dog but is also independent and can be left minding the house while you run errands. She does well in her crate but would be happier sleeping curled up beside you. Sweet, playful and adorable, she is waiting for her forever home! Check out this cutie meeting friends and haviing fun!

This cute little girl with the fabulous eyeliner is leggy and gorgeous and has the biggest ears! All the way from Puerto Rico, we think she is a whippet mix. Missy Belle would make a great running partner or hiking partner because she can go the distance. Happy, snuggly, playful and great with all dogs, her favorite pasttime is giving hugs and kisses! She is a snuggler and a hugger and plays great with all dogs. She is playful and ready for any adventure with other pups or you. She would love a yard to play around in, another dog, big or small, and kids would suit her just fine! She settled in her crate for the night and woke up ready to have fun. See this cutie in all her faces. She is a perfect photo model!

Rio has the most gorgous eyeline and is a sweet, happy boy who loves routine and the familiar. He loves other dogs so would love to have lots of friends in the hood to play with. Rio is cautious to start but once he warms up he is sweet, affectionate and playful while not being a cling-on. He is potty trained and happy to snooze in his crate when you have a busy day but he is also happy to chill out with free roam privileges. He would love a fenced yard, and a quieter home without young, loud kids because he can become a little overwhelmed in a too busy household. Watch him play with friends.

I was found walking the roads of Puerto Rico with two of my best friends — maybe that’s why I love going on walks so much. Seriously, I could walk all day if you let me! When I’m not out exploring, I’m the ultimate chill companion. I love to snuggle and will politely beg for cuddles (and I’m very good at it). I adore every human and every dog I meet — big or small, I’ll happily say hello. I get along great with kids and don’t mind sharing my food, even when my foster sister tries to sneak a bite. Whether I’m your one-and-only pup or joining a pack, I’ll be happy as long as you take me out for my walks. Like many satos from Puerto Rico, I’m part chihuahua, part mystery mix, and 100% adorable. I’m a low-key, non-barking kind of guy who’s just looking for someone to love — and someone who loves long walks.

Just days ago, Walker was one of many dogs facing euthanasia due to overcrowding 💔But thanks to an incredible network of people who cared enough to act, Walker got his freedom walk! He’s now settled into a warm foster home, learning what it feels like to be safe, loved, and finally seen. His foster Samantha says he’s the sweetest cuddlebug…a gentle, mellow boy who gives the softest kisses, loves belly rubs, and absolutely believes he’s a lap dog. 😅He’s also great on leash!
He’s kind, loyal, and curious in the best ways… a dog who just wants to be near you. He’s already showing how much love he has to give and how deeply he appreciates this second chance.🥰
He just had a bubble bath spa day and is feeling ✨ fresh, clean, and ready ✨ to meet his forever family!
Walker is scheduled for his neuter and vaccines at @spayspa_neuternook on July 17, and then he’ll be officially ready to go home.

Meet Piper, the 22-lb lowrider who's basically a professional belly-rub begger! This adorable pup, with her perpetually cute "socks," believes in making a great first impression by rolling right over for a good rub. Piper is a funny, silly, and affectionate little lovebug who will absolutely delight you with her happy, sassy, and fun-loving personality. She's a certified cuddler and perfectly potty trained, ready to wag her whole butt into your heart. While she adores being the center of attention, she'd be happiest in a home with a yard to zoom around in and without the hustle and bustle of a busy household with kids. Piper just wants to be your one and only! Watch her and again playing with her friends!
